Who we are

ymove (ymove.org) is a non-commercial hobby project run by a private individual. The data controller can be reached at info.ymove@gmail.com.

What we collect

Signing in and using the service are deliberately kept apart, so it is worth describing them separately.

• Sign-in data. Signing in is handled by Amazon Cognito, which acts as a broker to Google and Facebook. Cognito holds your email address so that it can recognise your account when you return, and so that the same account can be reached whether you sign in with an email address and password, with Google, or with Facebook. If the provider supplies a name or profile picture, that stays with the sign-in provider. We never receive your password from Google or Facebook, and we never see the password you use with them.
• Your ymove profile. The service itself stores only a technical account identifier — not your email address, not your name, not your picture. Everything shown to you in the product is tied to that identifier, and it cannot be turned back into your email address.
• Content you submit. Survey answers and profile details you enter in the service, such as country, timeline and status of your relocation. These are attached to the technical identifier above, never to your email address.
• Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) kept for security and debugging.

We do not collect payment data, precise location, contacts, or anything else beyond the above.

Why we use it

To authenticate you, to run the features of the service, and to build aggregated, anonymous statistics about relocation experiences. Aggregated statistics never identify an individual user.

Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies, we process account data to perform the service you asked for, and content you submit on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by deleting your data.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. Data is stored on Amazon Web Services (EU region), which acts as our hosting provider. We disclose data otherwise only where required by law.

Retention

Your sign-in record and submitted content are kept until you delete your account, at which point both the Cognito sign-in record holding your email address and the content tied to your technical identifier are removed. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.

Your rights

You may request access to your data, correction, or deletion. Write to info.ymove@gmail.com; see User Data Deletion for how deletion works. If you are in the EU, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

The service is not intended for people under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
