Questions and answers
What does this platform give me?
By describing your own move you add to what the emigrant community collectively knows. The platform is at an early stage of development, and the simplest thing it can already give back is statistics and analytics on other people's experience.
Data like that helps you spot an anomaly while you are waiting for a document. That matters most where the process is poorly organised and nobody will tell you what a normal waiting time looks like: if your case stands out clearly from the rest, that is a reason to remind them about yourself rather than keep waiting.
It also keeps you from building false expectations, by showing the other side of emigration. While someone is only considering a move, paperwork timelines stay in the background — and in time they turn out to be question number one.
Why do I have to sign in?
To save your progress. The hardest problem in collecting this kind of data is answers that were never finished: people usually fill a questionnaire in halfway through the process, and once it is over they never come back to update it.
With a profile that keeps your status, you can always return and finish what you started. Both your own record and the statistics gain from that, because the numbers are built from stories carried through to the end rather than from ones abandoned midway.
Why do you need my email address?
For signing in and nothing else. Your address lives in the sign-in directory, where it serves only to recognise your account when you come back — we send no mailings. Everything you enter in the service is kept apart from it, under a technical identifier that cannot be turned back into your address.
Beyond that we neither store nor process any other personal data that could identify you. The details are in the privacy policy.
Privacy PolicyHow do I delete my profile?
On request: send an email from the address you signed in with, and we delete both the sign-in record and everything you submitted.
The procedure, the timeframe and what remains after deletion are described in detail in a document of its own.
