How the idea came about

It started with a move of our own. When my family and I were settling in Portugal, the hard part turned out to be not the paperwork but the uncertainty around it, because deadlines were rarely kept even when they were named at all, replies never came and there was no one to ask whether any of it was normal, or else the answer you got was flatly unacceptable — wait, with no dates attached.

The community organised itself quickly, and in chats and groups people began telling each other what to do. What helped was not so much the advice itself as the sense that you were not the only one.

That was when it seemed worth looking wider, beyond a single community in a single country. Numbers answer questions like that better than impressions do, because they dispel myths or confirm hunches and stay open to checking. They also show whether your case stands out from the rest, and if a document is taking noticeably longer than usual, that is a reason to write, call or turn up in person rather than keep waiting.

Data

Sign-in and content are kept apart: your address lives in the sign-in directory, while everything you submit is stored separately, under a technical identifier. The statistics are built from anonymous answers.

Who runs it

A non-commercial project run by a private individual, with no ads and no data sales.
